Mammogram in October could mean free manicure

Sterling Regional MedCenter plans breast cancer awareness activity
STERLING, Colo. (Sept. 23, 2013) – During the month of October, anyone who has a routine mammogram at Sterling Regional MedCenter can register for one of 50 free spa certificates for a manicure and pedicure.

October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Early detection offers the best protection from breast cancer, and mammograms are the best tool for finding breast cancer early. Sterling Regional MedCenter has digital mammography which captures the image of the breast digitally and allows that image to be seen on a computer within seconds.

Physicians recommend a baseline mammogram for all women 35 years of age with yearly mammograms for women 40 and older. Patients should consult with their primary care provider to discuss family history and recommendations on how often screenings are needed.

Patients do not need a physician referral to schedule a routine screening mammogram, which is typically covered by most major insurance plans. People who need financial assistance to cover the cost of the mammogram may be eligible to receive funding from Sterling’s Tough Enough to Wear Pink campaign. Please ask about financial assistance when scheduling the appointment.

To schedule an appointment, please call (970) 521-3146.
