North Colorado Medical Center tops in Banner Health
Hospital is one of two leading in performance among system’s 23 facilities
GREELEY, Colo. (April 22, 2013) – Banner Health presented North Colorado Medical Center with “Banner’s Best of the Best” award Monday, recognizing the hospital as one of the two highest performing hospitals among the system’s 23 facilities.
The leadership team of Banner Health presented the awards via video broadcast from Phoenix to Banner Health hospitals in seven states.
Each year Banner Health recognizes hospitals based on a scorecard with strategic initiatives. The initiatives have targets in areas of clinical excellence, patient experience, learning and financial performance.
NCMC joined Banner Health’s newest facility, Banner Ironwood Medical Center in San Tan Valley, Ariz., as the co-recipient of this year’s Best of the Best award.
Banner Health, a nonprofit hospital system based in Phoenix, owns and operates 23 hospitals and health care facilities in seven states: Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Nebraska, Nevada and Wyoming with 32,000 employees. This is the second time in three years that NCMC has won the award. NCMC last won the award in 2011.
“Today we celebrate the contributions that each and every one of us makes to Banner Health being one of the top health care systems in the country,” said Rick Sutton, CEO of NCMC. “I’m proud of our winning team and the excellent patient care we provide to our patients.”
The award comes on the heels of two national recognitions for the hospital. NCMC was named an America’s 100 Best Hospital 2013 by Healthgrades and a Top 100 Hospital 2013 by Truven Analytics. Also, Banner Health was named a Top 15 Health System in the nation.
Two NCMC employees were recognized with Western Region Leadership Awards. Marilyn Fain, the director of emergency services, was honored for her leadership during the transition for Weld County Paramedic Services to Banner Health in 2012. Sue Liddell, RN senior manager for the Operating Room and Sterling Procedssing, received recognition for leadership in training and education of nurses and providing excellent patient care in multiple areas.
