Sterling Regional MedCenter announces health fair dates
STERLING, Colo. (Feb. 14, 2013) Residents who want to participate in the 2013 Sterling Community Health Fair should plan now to schedule screenings in advance of the fair.
People interested in having a chemistry panel blood screening, a prostate specific antigen screening or an A1c screening for hemoglobin can schedule appointments by calling (970) 521-5313 on Tuesday, Feb. 19 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. or Saturday Feb. 23 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. The blood draw dates are March 2, 4-7, 9, 11-14, 16, 18-21 and 23.
The cost for the Health Fair chemistry panel is $35; for the prostate specific antigen is $20, and the A1c screening is $15. The A1c blood screening (for hemoglobin A1c) gives a picture of the average amount of glucose in the blood over the past few months. It can help with treatment of diabetes and, for certain people, this test may be used to screen for and diagnose diabetes and pre-diabetes.
Results will be available on the day of the health fair.
The health fair is 7:30 a.m.-11 a.m. March 30 at Sterling Middle School, 1177 Pawnee Ave., in Sterling. The day of the fair providers will offer interactive education booths, health information and opportunities to ask questions.
Sponsors of the Sterling Community Health Fair are Sterling Lions Club, High Plains Lions, Northeastern Junior College, Sterling Middle School and Sterling Regional MedCenter.
