Three East Morgan County Hospital staff members recognized by college
BRUSH, Colo. (Feb. 11, 2013) – Three staff members at East Morgan County Hospital have been named All-Star Alumni by Morgan Community College in Fort Morgan for their excellent work in their careers and the benefits each has brought to the community.
Cindy Nestor, Sandra Boone, and Wendi Thomas will be recognized at the Morgan Community College Gala on Feb. 22.
- Cindy Nestor is the laboratory manager at EMCH. She graduated from MCC with an associate’s degree in science in 1987. In her role as lab manager, the laboratory has continued to bring in new tests and technology to meet the needs of the patients, physicians and community. Under her leadership, she has seen how the effects of great teamwork and positive attitudes directly impact patient satisfaction. She has been successful at creatively motivating the staff in the right direction to improve patient satisfaction and teamwork.
- Sandra Boone is the cardiac rehabilitation nurse and diabetes educator at EMCH. She completed an associate’s degree in nursing in 2004 and an EMT-Basic Certificate in 2001. Sandra devotes both professional and volunteer time to support health education to patients with diabetes. She is known throughout the community because of her classes on “Living with Diabetes.” In the past year, EMCH recognized a need for cardiac rehabilitation for heart patients in the community. Sandra accepted the challenge and has developed this program for the region.
- Wendi Thomas is a medical assistant at the Banner Health Clinic, specializing in Surgery. She completed an associate’s degree in business administration in 2011 and an associate’s degree in medical office administration in 2012. Wendi takes pride in finding ways to help her patients. She strives to maintain a quality, personal service to the local residents. She also has proven to be a life-long learning, seeking programs that will benefit her health care career and the patients she serves.
MCC has presented the All-Star Alumni award since 1995, according to the college’s communications and marketing director.
