Washakie Medical Center plans Camp Healthcare
10 students will be selected for health care careers camp
WORLAND, Wyo. (May 3, 2013) – Middle school students with an interest in health care careers can apply for Washakie Medical Center’s Camp Healthcare, to take place June 19-21, 2013.
This opportunity will teach seventh graders going into eighth grade about professions in health care and will offer exciting, hands-on activities. Washakie Medical Center leaders will select 10 students to attend the camp at the hospital.
Activities will include:
- Growing bacteria and observing it under a microscope
- Suturing exercises
- Using imaging equipment to view the heart and other anatomy of the body
- Touring the ambulance and learning other lifesaving medical procedures
- Participating in pool therapy
Activities do not involve actual patients. Students will be introduced to many different health care opportunities and can interact with lab technicians, respiratory therapists, imaging technologists, physical therapists, occupational therapists, nurses, doctors, and other health professionals. Sessions run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Applications are due May 10 and should be returned to the hospital. There is no fee to attend Camp Healthcare. Meals during the program are provided for the students.
