Banner Baywood earns trauma center designation
Level III center adds to Banner’s trauma network in Valley
MESA, AZ (April 21, 2014) – Banner Baywood Medical Center was recently verified as a Level III Trauma Center by the American College of Surgeons (ACS). The recognition makes Banner Health one step closer to goals of creating an integrated trauma network with centers of varying levels at all of its Valley hospitals.
This achievement recognizes Banner Baywood’s dedication to ensuring that emergency responders are better able to get trauma patients to the closest hospital that is best equipped and staffed to care for their injuries.
The level III title means Banner Baywood is capable of handling patients with traumatic injuries, and it has procedures in place to quickly transfer patients to a higher level trauma facility when needed.
Banner Health already has obtained ACS Level IV Trauma Center designation for Banner Ironwood Medical Center in San Tan Valley, Banner Gateway Medical Center in Gilbert, Banner Estrella Medical Center in west Phoenix, and Banner Boswell Medical Center in Sun City.
Banner Good Samaritan Medical Center in Phoenix will remain Banner's only ACS Level I Trauma Center. A Level I Trauma Center requires the most resources and capabilities, providing total care for every aspect of injury.
