Banner Gateway and Banner MD Anderson Cancer Center receive over 1,600 cases of water for Salvation Army project
GILBERT, Ariz.(May 20, 2014) - Banner Gateway Medical Center and Banner MD Anderson Cancer Center recently received a donation of more than 1,600 cases of water to benefit the Salvation Army. This amount trumps the initial goal of collecting at least 250 cases.
Each year, the nonprofit uses the water to operate five water stations for the 23 hottest days during the summer. Enough cases were donated to supply all five water stations for 12 to 13 days.
People from the community attended the event and had the opportunity to interact with the Gilbert fire and police departments, AirEvac and Southwest Ambulance. Departments across the campus joined in the challenge to see who could collect the most water bottles, and each department donated more than 100 cases of water.
