Banner Lassen names new chief executive officer
Former chief nursing officer accepts permanent CEO role
SUSANVILLE, Calif. (Jan. 20, 2014) – Banner Lassen Medical Center announced today that Catherine Harshbarger has accepted the role of Chief Executive Officer at the hospital effective immediately.
Harshbarger has served as interim CEO since Sept. 23, 2013, after the departure of former CEO Bob Edwards. She also has been the Chief Nursing Officer at Banner Lassen since 2011. A search is now under way for a new CNO for the hospital.
Harshbarger has more than 30 years of nursing experience, including 14 years in leadership roles. Prior to working in Susanville, Harshbarger was the Director of Nursing at Ellsworth County Medical Center in Ellsworth, KS. Harshbarger has a master’s in Health Administration and a bachelor’s degree in Nursing, both from the University of Phoenix. She has a diverse clinical and leadership background serving in acute care, home health, case management, and physician clinics.

Harshbarger leads a staff of 218 health care providers and support staff members. Banner Lassen Medical Center in Susanville, CA, originally opened in 1883 as Lassen County Hospital.
