Community Hospital has Camp Med
Eight students will be selected for health care careers camp
TORRINGTON, WY (July 11, 2014) – High school students with an interest in health care careers can apply for Community Hospital’s Camp Med, rescheduled from the spring to Aug. 19-21, 2014.
This opportunity to learn about professions in health care will offer exciting, hands-on activities. Community Hospital leaders will select up to eight students to attend the camp at the hospital this summer.
Activities will include:
- Using an endoscope and other surgical equipment
- Learning bandaging and casting exercises
- Using imaging equipment to view the heart and other anatomy
- Touring the ambulance and learning lifesaving medical procedures on mannequins
- Participating in life-like scenarios.
Activities do not involve actual patients. Students will be introduced to many different health care opportunities and can interact with lab technicians, respiratory therapists, imaging technologists, physical therapists, occupational therapists, nurses, doctors, and other health professionals. Sessions run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
