Sunrise Health invites public to grand opening

Renovations complete at new Loveland Community Health Center building
LOVELAND, CO. (Jan. 21, 2014) – Sunrise Community Health and Banner Health are inviting the public to attend a grand opening celebration on Jan. 29 for the new home of the Loveland Community Health Center and Stepping Stones Adult Day Program.

The Loveland Community Health Center provides health care services to uninsured and under-insured patients in Loveland and the surrounding area. Its new building is a former Hewlett Packard manufacturing plant at 302 Third St. S.E. in Loveland that had been mostly vacant for several years prior to Sunrise buying it in July 2012.

Sunrise Community Health and the McKee Medical Center Foundation raised nearly $8 million to acquire and renovate the 48,000-square-foot facility, a portion of which is being leased to Stepping Stones - a service of McKee Medical Center.

“This new building gives us the space we need to meet the expanding health care needs of our most vulnerable residents,” said Mitzi Moran, president and chief executive officer of Sunrise Community Health. “This is a shining example of how partnerships between health care providers, nonprofit foundations, government entities, and private citizens can work together to provide a safety net that will benefit the entire community today and for years to come.”

The grand opening will include remarks by Loveland Mayor Cecil Gutierrez; Sunrise Community Health President and CEO Mitzi Moran; Mark Wallace, M.D., chairman of the Sunrise Community Health Board; Rick Sutton, chief executive officer of Banner Health in Northern Colorado and Stepping Stones Adult Day Program Manager Angel
Hoffman. Tours of the facility will be provided and refreshments will be served.

Grand opening celebration for Loveland Community Health Center and Stepping Stones

  • WHERE: 302 Third St. S.E. in Loveland

The project was funded by contributions from a variety of sources including a $2 million donation from Banner Health, $2 million from The Colorado Health Foundation, $1 million from the McKee Medical Center Foundation, and $150,000 from Caring for Colorado. The City of Loveland also contributed $693,000 in cash support and waived fees.

The Loveland Community Health Center will initially occupy 25,000 square feet, a significant increase from the 15,000-square-foot space the clinic occupies in its current location at 450 Cleveland Ave. It will use that space to offer primary medical and dental care, medical imaging, pharmacy services, health education, and care management. Behavioral health counseling will be provided in collaboration with Touchstone Health Partners.

Stepping Stones, which provides quality daytime care and activities for adults in need of supervision, is leasing 6,000 square feet, up from the 675-square-foot space it had occupied at First Christian Church, 2000 Lincoln Ave. in Loveland, since 1995.

The additional space will allow Stepping Stones to add new programs like gardening and a men’s group, and tailor its services to patients based on their needs.
