Wall at Banner Health Clinic welcomes veteran patients
GILBERT, Ariz. (July 15, 2014) - As part of Banner Health’s new initiative to welcome veterans, medical staff at the Banner Health Clinic in Gilbert, Ariz., specializing in orthopedics are highlighting their own and their family members’ military service.
Through the “Veterans' Welcome Project,” the nonprofit organization aims to support military veterans and provide them with health care while honoring their service. By noting their service, Banner Health employees will be able to engage veteran to veteran as the opportunities arise when treating those who serve. More than 200 veterans already have been treated through the program, which is garnering positive feedback from employees and patients.
Beginning in about a month, employees who are veterans will self-identify by wearing a pin indicating their service branch. Banner Health’s Phoenix-area operations, in partnership with Operation American Patient (OAP) and TriWest Healthcare Alliance, is in the process of scheduling veterans who need health care services.
