MESA, Ariz. (July 3, 2008) -- Marking a first for an Arizona hospital, Banner Desert Medical Center has installed way-finding kiosks throughout the hospital to make it easier for patients and visitors to navigate the 750,000 square-foot facility.
Banner Desert has partnered with MiraLinx, an Arizona company specializing in online interactive mapping products, to bring this convenience to visitors.
Like many large hospitals, Banner Desert can be confusing to navigate. Now, visitors need only stop at one of 10 kiosks on site to get a map and step-by-step directions to their desired destination. The
maps, with written directions, can be printed directly from the kiosks.
The way-finding system also is available online with maps and driving directions to the hospital, parking information for the most convenient entrance based on where you are going in the hospital, and walking directions to your final destination. Available in English and Spanish, the maps and directions can be found online at www.BannerHealth.com Keyword search: Desert Map.
The new mapping and directional system complements Banner Desert’s Guest Services receptionists and friendly employees, who are always willing to provide personal assistance to visitors who have lost their way or those uncomfortable with the new technology.
MiraLinx merges information, data, imagery and spatial identity into an easy-to-use kiosk-based or online presentation. In addition to Banner
Desert, MiraLinx clients include Arizona State University and the FBR Open, which has featured the MiraLinx Course Tour for the last three years.
