Notice of closure of the Banner Boswell/MCC Nursing Program
After careful consideration, Banner Health and Mesa Community College have decided to discontinue their 32-year partnership for the Boswell/MCC Nursing Program at Banner Boswell and Banner Del E. Webb Medical Centers.
"More than 1,150 nurses have benefited and have been trained as a result of this long-standing partnership," said Arizona West Region President Kathy Bollinger. "We value the partnership and the many nurses who have come through the program."
Banner will continue to support nursing education with the Maricopa Community Colleges nursing program through clinical experiences. In addition, many experienced Banner nurses serve as adjunct faculty in support of this program.
"Both organizations are committed to continuing our long-standing partnerships and to working together to support workforce development needs in Maricopa County and in the state," said Shouan Pan, president of Mesa Community College.
The existing Boswell/MCC Nursing Program is being phased out with the last class having been admitted in January 2012. This final class will graduate December 2013. Through the generosity of donors, Sun Health Foundation has contributed substantial investments in the nursing education program in support of these students.
"Mesa Community College and Banner Health are committed to providing high-quality education and training for students in the current Boswell/MCC Nursing Program during the next two years," Pan said. "Students will experience nothing less."
