
Banner Health, South Mountain Community College and GateWay Community College formed a partnership to address the critical need for bilingual nurses. The Bilingual Nurse Fellows Program is designated to address the need for nurses who speak, read and write English and Spanish. Through this program individuals who are selected to participate must be fluent and literate in Spanish and English. Banner Health will provide tuition, books and fees in exchange for an employment commitment.

Eligibility:
To apply for the program, you must meet the following eligibility criteria:
- Be fluent and literate in Spanish and English
- Enrolled in the Bilingual Nurse Fellows Program through South Mountain Community College (academic requirements for South Mountain Community College)
- Successful completion of the first year and enrollment in the first Spring session
- In good standing with South Mountain Community College and GateWay Community College.
- Be eligible to work in the U.S.
Program Details:
Banner Health will pay for the selected students tuition, books and fees for the remaining four semesters of their nursing program. In return the student will work for Banner Health full-time as an RN for a minimum of three years following their graduation from nursing school.
Students in this program move through the full-time two-year program together as a class. They are required to attend college during the summer months until the program is completed. Participants are selected on a semester basis to fill a specific number of slots. Prospective students are asked to contact South Mountain Community College to obtain specific dates and times.
Students take their prerequisite coursework at South Mountain Community College and the clinical curriculum at GateWay Community College simultaneously. Students conduct their clinical rotations primarily at a Banner facility.
Applicants are required to submit:
- A completed Bilingual Nurse Fellows Application (Word)
- Evidence of enrollment in the Bilingual Nurse Fellows Program and current standing at South Mountain Community College and GateWay Community College
- Two letters of recommendation from faculty and/or employer
- Minimum 300 word essay describing interest and commitment in becoming a bilingual nurse and working for Banner Health (In both English and Spanish)
- Attend an Information Session held at South Mountain Community College
- Interview with Banner Health
