
The Essential Career Pathways (ECP) program is designed for entry-level employees who earn up to $14.93 per hour. ECP provides educational opportunities to entry-level employees to enhance their employability and prepare them to fill targeted, hard-to-fill, higher-level positions. In addition, this program addresses the Banner Health workforce shortage in hard-to-fill positions. ECP pays tuition, books, fees and other learning materials.

Eligibility:
- Full-time and part-time employee (32-40 hour per week and 16-20 hours per week)
- Earn between $6-14.93 per hour
- Possess a GED or high school diploma
- Complete the Banner Health employment conditional period
- Receive a positive recommendation from current manager
- Maintain good standing in your job (not currently in disciplinary action).
- Pass college Reading, Math and English proficiency assessment (ASSET) with minimum score of 41
- Sign a letter of commitment to remain with Banner Health three years following the completion of the pathway program.
- Remain in good standing during the program and during employment commitment
Program Details:
Health career pathways offered are based on the needs of the Banner facility. The following is an example of the health care careers offered:
- Associate Degree in Nursing (RN)
- Respiratory Therapist
- Medical Imaging
To participate in this program, you must:
- Complete the Essential Career Pathways Application (Word)
- Meet the admission and registration requirements of the Maricopa County Community College District (MCCD)
- Remain either a part-time (16-31 scheduled hours per week) or a full-time employee (32 or more scheduled hours per week) while you are completing your certificate or degree program
- Attend college on your own time, not on work time
- Maintain a "C" average or good academic standing
- Successfully complete your educational program within the time allotted
- Remain at your Banner Health facility throughout your educational time period
- Work for Banner Health full-time for three years as an employee in good standing following completion of your educational program
- Sign a Promissory Note and Education Assistance Loan Agreement/Program Requirements document

Coursework is provided at any unit of the Maricopa County Community College District.
