Banner Health's New Graduate Nurse Residency Program provides a paid, preceptor orientation program including in-unit and classroom experiences for new employees who recently graduated from accredited nursing programs.




Program Details:

  • You will be assigned to a designated preceptor on your unit. After completion of facility and clinical orientation, you have the opportunity to work with your preceptor on his/her assigned schedule.
  • Over the next 10-12 weeks, classes will be scheduled away from the unit for participation in classroom and didactic experiences and meeting unit requirements. Classroom experiences are provided by Banner Health Western Region Clinical Educators, and utilize a mix of lecture, skills lab, case study and simulation scenarios.
  • Structured evaluation, goal setting and feedback sessions occur regularly throughout the program, and involve your preceptor, your manager and/or your educator and you.
  • Upon graduation from the Nurse Residency Program, your specialty programs will commence if your units providing a specialty programs.

How to Apply:

  • Interviews for employment take place one to three months prior to graduation from nursing school.

  • After you are hired, your manager and/or educator can then enter you in the New Graduate Nurse Residency Program.
  • All participants begin the program at the same time to facilitate teambuilding.
  • Start date is attempted to be shortly after most graduations occur.
  • Sitting for NCLEX is strongly encouraged immediately upon the new graduate nurse receives authorization to test.
  • Participants must obtain a temporary nursing license (in states that issue them), or have current CNA certificate or LPN license be board-eligible and must successfully complete the NCLEX exam to remain in the New Graduate Nurse Residency Program.
