Progressive small town living in the wide-open West

Platte County Memorial Hospital and Nursing Home  in Wheatland, Wyo., is a critical access facility adjacent to the Laramie Mountain Range and 70 miles north of the state capital, Cheyenne.

In addition to a full range of inpatient and outpatient services, a 43-bed nursing home is part of the continuum of lifetime care offered to the residents of southeast Wyoming.

On Sept. 20, 2005, Platte County Memorial Hospital broke ground on a $16 million renovation project that will replace the Inpatient Wing, Surgical Suite, and Diagnostic Imaging departments. Renovations will also be made to the Emergency Department and Laboratory.

Wheatland (population 3,500) is a progressive small town, boasting participation in the largest consumer-owned power program in the country. Residents enjoy abundant recreational opportunities, such as wildlife watching, hiking, camping, and proximity to the Laramie Peak area of Medicine Bow National Forest. Wheatland is also just 50 miles from the University of Wyoming and an easy drive to Denver, Colo.
