President & CEO
Andy Kramer Petersen took the helm of Banner Health Foundation in 2005. As President and CEO she leads a team responsible for securing and stewarding charitable donations to help Banner Health achieve its mission of making a difference in people’s lives through excellent patient care. In addition, Andy oversees the volunteer efforts of the board of directors of both Banner Health Foundation and Banner Alzheimer’s Foundation.
In just six short years, Andy and her team have secured more than $100 million to support vital community and hospital-based programs and services. Andy’s successful leadership of Major Gifts, Corporations and Foundations, Planned Giving, Annual Giving, Special Events and other fundraising programs has helped increase both internal and external awareness of the Foundation and the mission of Banner Health. Significant strategic partnerships have been established with numerous community partners, including Cox Communications, University of Phoenix and Rural/Metro, to name just a few.
Foundation funds enhance patient care and help create positive patient experiences. Charitable giving ensures Banner is able to offer patients state-of-the-art equipment, technology and highly-trained professionals, among other things.
Foundation priorities center on care, prevention, education and facility expansion and are closely aligned with Banner Health’s overall strategic goals. Some examples of vital community programs and services funded through philanthropic giving include: School-Based Health Centers, Pediatric Injury Prevention Program, Laura Drier Breast Health Program, the Poison and Drug Information Center, Nursing Scholarships and many more.
During her tenure with the organization, Andy has also overseen the launch and successful completion of significant fundraising campaigns to support capital needs and programmatic costs for Cardon Children’s Medical Center and Banner MD Anderson Medical Center, as well as a special campaign to fund groundbreaking research efforts and family and community services at Banner Alzheimer’s Institute. All of these and other accomplishments helped Andy earn her place among a 2010 list of “Women Who Move the Valley” by Arizona Foothills Magazine.
With more than 20 years of experience, Andy is a seasoned development and fundraising professional and noted figure on the Valley philanthropic scene. Prior to joining Banner, Andy served as Senior Vice President of Major Gifts and Planned Giving for Valley of the Sun United Way. She is a member of the Association of Healthcare Professionals and Association of Fundraising Professionals and has served on a number of boards for organizations throughout the Phoenix-metro area.
As the mother of two boys, Andy is actively involved with the Boy Scouts of America, as well as the parent associations of both Cocopah Middle School and Chaparral High School.
