Banner Health Hospitals and Medical Centers
At all of Banner Health’s nonprofit facilities, our employees make a difference in people’s lives through excellent patient care. Annually, hundreds of thousands of patients visit our Arizona hospitals seeking the care they need, and Banner Health can provide outstanding medical care, in part due to the generous contributions made to the Banner Health Foundation. Donations received by the Foundation are directed to various Banner Health hospitals and facilities to ensure that the care provided meets the highest possible standard.
To make certain that excellent patient care is delivered with continuity and in response to the community need, Banner Health has established these particular areas of focus:
Cardiology:
With Banner Baywood Heart Hospital dedicated to providing cardiac services to its patients, and other programs such as the Harry Cavanagh Cardiology Center at Banner Good Samaritan extending care to the community, Banner Health is a recognized leader in heart health and care.
Banner Health is the leading provider of cardiac care locally, treating over 33 percent of patients seeking such services in our community. Banner Health, a nonprofit, continues to invest in cardiology services throughout its Arizona facilities, to ensure that advancements in cardiac care reach all those in the region who require these expert services.
Oncology:
Even though there has been remarkable progress in recent years, cancer is still the second most common cause of death among adults in the state, and is also the primary cause of death by disease among Arizona's children. In Maricopa County, 4,700 people will die due to cancer this year.
Unfortunately, the incidence of cancer will continue to increase. More than 80 percent of all cancers occur in people over the age of 55 years old. With the population of Arizona aging, there will be more cases of cancer diagnosed. By 2020, reliable estimates project 32,000 new cancer cases every year.
Currently, Banner Health serves almost 37 percent of the market requiring oncology care and services. In recognition of the growing need for cancer care, Banner Health Foundation continues to avidly support expansions and advancements in cancer care programs that benefit patients, caregivers and loved ones in a variety of ways.
Pediatrics:
Banner Health is committed to providing the highest quality medical care and technology, family-centered procedures, and highly-trained, compassionate health care professionals to all pediatric patients. From broad-based health services to more specialized pediatric care, Banner Health provides children and their families with the best possible care available.
As the largest hospital system in Arizona, Banner Health delivers care to pediatric patients throughout the local market. With the new Cardon Children's Medical Center nearing completion, and expansions in pediatrics at Banner Thunderbird Medical Center demonstrate Banner Health’s commitment to serve as a leader in our community as the pediatrics health care provider of choice. Neurosciences:
Continued research, clinical expertise and compassionate patient care are hallmarks of neurosciences at Banner Health. Five facility-based neuroscience programs bring together multidisciplinary teams of health care professionals to treat patients suffering from diseases, disorders and injuries affecting the brain, spine and nervous system.
From Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease to stroke, brain tumors and spinal cord injuries, Banner Health treats a wide range of neurological conditions. Our programs have been recognized for excellence in care by several national organizations. Ensuring patients have access to the latest diagnostic and treatment options, Banner actively sponsors and participates in research initiatives at the local, regional and national levels.
