More than 1,000 bicyclists rode in the 21st annual Community Classic Bike Tour on May 18th. Because the riders’ registration fees and sponsorships benefited Transitional Care at McKee Medical Center, we raised more than $62,000.
Five different scenic routes started at McKee and wound through the foothills and through Boyd Lake providing a challenging ride for different skill levels. Many riders commented that this was the most beautiful ride in the West. Riders came from all over Colorado and surrounding states.
More than 150 volunteers made this event possible assisting on the course, registering riders, handing out food and water at aid stations, providing safety on the course, and working on site. To add to this year’s festivities, local businesses, clubs, and groups staffed Snack-n-Aid Stations along the route. U.S. Engineering, Shamrock Foods, Velo-One Cycle Club, PEDAL Cycling Club, McKee Employees, and McKee’s TCU provided nourishment and fun along the route.
Sponsor support came from Advanced Medical Imaging, Regent Broadcasting, McKee Medical Center, Orthopaedic Center of the Rockies, Sam’s Club-Loveland, Anheuser-Busch, First National Bank, Home State Bank, and the McWhinney Foundation. A multitude of local businesses donated door prizes and other products and services vital to this event.
