Comedy Night, Beer Tasting and Silent Auction

The Community Healthcare Foundation presents the eleventh annual Comedy Night, Beer Tasting and Silent Auction.

Comedy Night is on Aug. 26, 2011 beginning at 6 p.m. with the beer tasting, cash bar and hors d'oeuvres, followed by the live auction and silent auction winners at 8 p.m. and comedy show at 8:30 p.m. The event is at the Rendezvous Center in Torrington.

Tickets for Comedy Night go on sale Aug. 1, 2011 and can be purchased at Pinnacle Bank, First State Bank, First National Bank or Wagner's Floral. You can also contact Kelly at (307) 534-7101.

This year's comedian is Rocky LaPorte. Once a Chicago truck driver and dock worker, Rocky, started his stand up career in the windy city back in 1988. After winning a number of local comedy competitions, Rocky went on to win the Johnnie Walker National Comedy Competition, beating out over 1,100 contestants in 10 cities.

Following his win Rocky moved on to television, appearing on such shows as Cheers, Pat Sajak, Comic Strip Live, his very own half hour special on Comedy Central, and The Tonight Show. At the Las Vegas Comedy Festival Rocky received the “Best Male Club Comedian of the Year” award, presented by George Wallace and Andy Kindler.

With a busy schedule of corporate shows and touring all major cities, Rocky has become one of the most sought-after comedians in the country. He recently went overseas to entertain our troops in bases all over Iraq. Rocky’s refreshing take on life and easygoing likability gives him a universal appeal that any audience can enjoy.

Rocky has opened for such comedians as Louie Anderson, Garry Shandling, Drew Carey, and Tim Allen. He has also opened for such musical acts as Hootie and the Blowfish, and the Righteous Brothers. Rocky has also contributed his time & efforts to numerous charities including St Jude’s for Children, NFL Charities, homeless shelters across the country, and cancer research. Rocky’s clean and engaging comedy act has made him a crowd favorite in all the top comedy clubs, corporate events and television shows.
