Audio: “I get a lot out of volunteering, because I really enjoy the people, I enjoy the facility, I enjoy the coordinators. I just like helping people. I’ve been volunteering for 30 years because we moved here in Sun City and wanted to give something back to the community immediately.
My husband joined the posse and I joined the hospital auxiliary and became a volunteer. Why I’ve done it, because I’ve enjoyed it, I’ve had a lot of experience with different places in the hospital. The volunteers are great people. It’s just a very worthwhile thing to do. I’ve worked at the lobby reception desk, I’ve been day chairman, I’ve been active in the auxiliary doing different things for them, raising money for the hospital. And I’ve had leadership roles in different things.
I would recommend people volunteer, because you get a lot more out of it than you really realize until you do it. It’s a wonderful feeling to be able to help people and the satisfaction and the pride you get from doing it, especially in your local hospital. Where I live, in Sun City, Banner Boswell is our local hospital and it’s a wonderful way to give back to the community as well.”
