Where do you find the happiest, most cheerful place at FMH/DC? Just look for our in-house day care facility, the Learning Center. The Learning Center provides child care services exclusively for the children (six weeks to 13 years of age) of FMH/DC employees. Our program is designed to provide an exceptional child care experience that provides a happy and healthy environment where children develop emotionally, intellectually and physically.
The Learning Center is the only child care facility in Fairbanks accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), an achievement reached partly through staff qualifications. This accreditation is a rigorous, voluntary process by which early childhood programs demonstrate they can meet national standards of excellence. The process carefully considers all aspects of the program including health and safety, staffing, staff qualifications and physical environment. The greatest emphasis is placed on the children's relationship with the staff.
The main part of the center, for toddlers and pre-schoolers, is located on the corner of 20th Avenue and Cowles Street - just a block from FMH. And, to the delight of Denali Center residents who can observe the children through large, glass windows, the infant section (six weeks to 12 months) is located at Denali Center.
