Support, Education and Outreach
Fairbanks Memorial Hospital offers patient, family and caregiver support and education. Cancer prevention and early detection is encouraged through education, community outreach and regular screenings.
We offer a twice monthly caregiver support group, along with a number of other patient and family support groups through the J. Michael Carroll Cancer Treatment Center.
We also provide a Patient Library, a free resource open to the entire community. Open weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., the comfortable library provides a wealth of information about cancer treatment, technologies, medical research and health information. Helpful staff and volunteers are happy to guide patrons on using medical databases, videos, interactive computer and medical journals.
Psychosocial support is part of the care given to patient and their families throughout all phases of cancer care. Bereavement and survivorship support is also available.
Fairbanks Memorial is proud to participate in a number of community health events including the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life®.
