J. Michael Carroll Cancer Center
At Fairbanks Memorial Hospital and the J. Michael Carroll Cancer Center patient’s and their families can expect to receive treatment from a team of experts who take pride in providing compassionate, high quality care in a comfortable and supportive environment.
Originally opened in 2000, the center was the vision of Dr. Carroll. It was renamed in his memory in 2011 to honor his legacy of patient care and leadership in the fight against cancer.
When facing the diagnosis and treatment of cancer, the center allows Fairbanks residents to remain close to home. We offer each of our cancer patients an individualized comprehensive treatment plan which incorporates the strengths and expertise of our community physicians as well as our multidisciplinary team. With the use of physicians and staff, cutting-edge technology, medications and surgical approaches we continue to discover new ways of diagnosing and treating cancer at every stage.
By continuing to expand our community outreach efforts through partnership on a community, statewide and national level, we are able to raise awareness and promote early detection.
The center offers:
- Cancer diagnosis
- Medical oncology
- Treatment including radiation
- Clinical trials
- Patient library
- Support groups
In an acknowledgement of the center’s ability to ensure patients with access to ongoing clinical trials, prevention and early detection programs and life-long follow up, the Center has been designated a Community Cancer Program by the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer.
