Every birth is a unique experience, and the highly skilled and compassionate staff at Fairbanks Memorial Hospital is prepared to care for pre-term babies and toddlers up to 24 months.
Our five-bed Level II Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) is staffed by highly skilled pediatricians and nurses certified in neonatal intensive care.
A nurse-to-patient ratio of one-to-one ensures our babies receive the specialized care and attention they need to thrive.
Premature babies are often born without fully developed immune systems making them more susceptible to infections such as Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV), a serious and potential fatal respiratory illness. These newborns, along with those with bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD) and chronic lung disease (CLD) who are more likely to develop lower respiratory tract infections, can benefit from the customized, family-centered plan of care for each baby and family in our care.
