Todd Capistrant, D.O., MHA
Tanana Valley Clinic Medical Director
Dr. Todd Capistrant has been a physician with Tanana Valley Clinic since 2006, where he first began attending to patients in our 1st Care Center and led that department as their Assistant Medical Director. In June 2013 he was selected as the Medical Director of Tanana Valley Clinic and oversees the 13 different departments that comprise our clinic. He is a board-certified Family Medicine physician who specializes in Osteopathic Manipulation.
Dr. Capistrant began his education at the University of Minnesota where he received a B.S. in Biology. He then went on to complete his medical degree as Doctor of Osteopathy at Des Moines University in Iowa. After completing his medical degree, he completed his Residency in Family Medicine at the University of Minnesota-Bethesda Family Practice. In addition to his medical education, Dr. Capistrant received a masters degree in Healthcare Administration from Des Moines University in Iowa.
He specializes in Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine and Family Medicine and is board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine. He is a member of the American Academy of Family Practice, Northwest Osteopathic Medical Foundation, American Osteopathic Association, American Fascial Distortion Association, American Academy of Osteopathy and the Alaska Osteopathic Medical Society.
Professionally, his medical interests include Osteopathic Manipulation, working with athletes to maximize performance, back pain relief for pregnant women, and the Fascial Distortion Model of Treatment. Dr. Capistrant is one of three physicians in the United States certified to teach seminars on the model, which allows for effective manipulative treatment for pulled muscles, fractures and frozen shoulders.
Personally Dr. Capistrant enjoys woodworking, long-distance sled dog running and racing, and spending time hiking and hunting with his family.
