Banner – University Medical Center Phoenix’s Wound Care Center is dedicated to providing high-quality care for patients with a variety of wounds.

We have a multidisciplinary team that includes board-certified physicians and highly trained clinical staff who use safe and advanced therapies to customize your treatment plan. We specialize in complex cases, but also understand that the size of the wound does not determine its severity.

Types of wounds that can be treated at Banner – University Medical Center Phoenix:

  • Diabetic foot ulcers
  • Venous ulcers and vein disorders
  • Arterial ulcers and blood flow disorders
  • Pressure ulcers
  • Autoimmune and/or inflammatory wounds
  • Atypical or cancerous wounds

  • Surgical or traumatic wounds
  • Abdominal fistulas
  • Chronic, non-healing wounds

  • Debridement (to remove dead tissue from the wound)
  • Education on how blood sugars (and nutrition**) can affect wound healing
  • Management of swelling with specialized wraps and stockings to promote wound healing
  • Treatment with advanced wound care products
  • Total Contact Casts to take pressure off your foot wound
  • Management of medications used to treat your wound
  • Education on nutrition and its impact on wound healing **
  • Hyperbaric oxygen therapy 
  • Ultrasound therapy
  • Referrals for tests that may help diagnose your wound

Banner – University Medical Center Phoenix's multidisciplinary team, nationally certified in wound care, realizes that there are many factors that can influence the care of your wound. These include the management of underlying diseases, social issues including home support and transportation, as well as financial limitations. We will work with you to identify these barriers and assist with finding solutions to promote the best outcomes.

What can I expect on my first visit?
Your specialized care will begin with our clinical staff gathering your health history. Your wound will be assessed by a team, including one of our highly trained physicians, who specializes in wound care.

Once your treatment plan is established, your personal registered nurse (RN) case manager will guide you through the wound healing process. This includes teaching you how to care for your wound, obtaining supplies, coordinating tests and communicating with the rest of your health care team.
