Our classes benefit the whole family

Banner Baywood Medical Center has a variety of support groups and classes to assist you with your health needs. To register, call 602-230-CARE (2273) unless otherwise noted.

Alternative Medicine

Acupuncture
Help your body regain its natural energetic balance that is required for good health. Call (480) 461-2400, select option #1 to schedule an appointment.

Mindfulness
A new way to conquer the affects of stress on your body using awareness into you daily activities. The mindfulness introductory class is offered quarterly. Call (480) 461-2400, select option #1 to schedule an appointment. Cost is $25

Massage
Through massage therapy you can relax and allow the technician to coax away pain and stress. Cost is $30 for 30 minutes; $45 for 60 minutes. Call (480) 461-2400, select option #1 to schedule an appointment.

Educational Classes

Diabetes Education
Learn about diabetes and related topics, including an overview and monitoring, nutritional management, exercise and coping skills. Meets monthly.

Diabetes Exercise
Call Outpatient Therapy at (480) 321-4240. A written release from your physician is required. Meets every Tuesday and Thursday in Outpatient Therapy.

Joint Replacement Class
Prepare yourself and your caregiver for your upcoming surgery by discussing your hospital stay. Meets the second and fourth Tuesday of each month in the Copper Room.

Nutrition Counseling
Meet one-on-one with a registered dietitian to review your meal plan for a healthy lifestyle.

Osteoporosis Awareness
Learn more about osteoporosis. Group meets the first Thursday of the month in the Copper Room.

Women's Services

OB Orientation and Tour
For mothers-to-be and their support person who plan to deliver at Banner Baywood. Topics include labor, delivery, postpartum, and nursery routines. Meets the first and third Monday of each month in the Copper Room.

Baby Care Prenatal Class
This class is for mothers and their support person wanting information on parenting skills, baby care, and safety. Meets the third Saturday of each month in the Copper Room.

Breastfeeding Class
This prenatal class offers breast feeding techniques, including proper latch-on and release, pumping and storing, nutrition, breast milk production and going back to work. Meets the second Saturday of each month in the Copper Room.

Childbirth Preparation Class
Prepare yourself for body changes, stages of labor, breathing techniques, positions for labor and delivery, as well as medical options and practices in this three-week course. Meets every Wednesday or Thursday from in the Copper Room.

New Brother/Sister Club
Prepare your child(ren) for a new brother/sister, keeping the baby safe, a fun video sharing what it's like to have a new brother or sister, learning to diaper and swaddle a baby, and a birthday party to celebrate the new baby's arrival. Meets the fourth Saturday of each month in the Copper Room.

Beeper Rental
A beeper is loaned out one month prior to delivery if the patient has a history of early delivery or is expecting twins. A $75 refundable check deposit is required.
