Mission Statement
The library exists to support the information needs of all hospital departments by providing knowledge-based information to empower personnel to make clinical and administrative decisions that improve the patient experience.
Collection
The library’s collection is designed to support the services, patient care, and information needs of Banner Baywood Medical Center. Currently, the library subscribes to several print journals including the American Journal of Cardiology, Archives of Internal Medicine, Chest, Circulation, JAMA, New England Journal of Medicine, and many more. The collection of books includes more than 300 titles in a variety of topics including:
- pharmacology
- infectious diseases
- orthopedics
- cardiovascular
- gastroenterology
- neurology
- geriatrics
- nursing
- surgery
Electronic Resources
The library subscribes to full-text journals online. There are more than 200 journals available via the OVID and EBSCO databases. In electronic format, through the STAT!Ref database, there are 110 medical texts available in their entirety. Access to these databases are available through an authentication gateway called, “Athens.” Athens provides access to resources anytime, anywhere, from any computer with an Internet connection. To register for a password and gain access to these resources, contact the librarian, or visit: http://shsi.azhin.org/banner/offsite.cfm to complete the registration process. Once registered, you will have access to many electronic resources including: STAT!Ref, OVID, and EBSCO databases; as well as The New England Journal of Medicine and various publisher online journal content.
Hours & Location
The library is staffed Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and is located on the main floor in the Physician’s Lounge, accessible via badge swipe. Also, you can enter across from Medical Records by way of keycode. Please call or email the librarian for the code. The library is closed most holidays.
