Diagnosis
At Banner Baywood Medical Center, we use a number of diagnostic procedures and medical technologies to evaluate stroke patients including:
- Computed Tomography (CT)
- Computed Tomographic Angiography (CTA)
- Digital Subtraction Angiography
- Electroencephalography (EEG)
- Magnetic Resonance Angiography (MRA)
- Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)
- Positron Emission Tomography (PET)
- Ultrasound of the carotid arteries and the intracranial circulation (TCD)
A stroke, often referred to as a brain attack, can be seen as the sudden death of brain cells caused by inadequate blood flow. Many different medical conditions may lead to a stroke; accurately diagnosing the cause of the stroke is critical to effective treatment.
