The Orthopedic Program at Banner Baywood Medical Center involves a nationally recognized, 28-bed unit dedicated to treating joint injuries and diseases through procedures such as hip-replacement and knee-replacement procedures.
Banner Baywood is committed to providing innovative, compassionate orthopedic services tailored to meet patients' individual needs. We treat an array of orthopedic conditions ranging from sports-related and emergency injuries to arthritic, congenital and degenerative conditions affecting the bones, joints, muscles, ligaments, tendons and cartilage.
Banner Baywood is the first hospital in Arizona to earn certification for Disease-Specific Care in hip fracture management and one of only 15 nationwide to receive this distinction. The Gold Seal of Approval™ by the Joint Commission, one of the nation’s oldest and largest standards-setting and accrediting body in health care, was awarded to Banner Baywood for its compliance with the organization’s national standards for healthcare quality and safety.
For our patients, this certification means Banner Baywood has a rigorous plan in place to ensure a coordinated effort by specialists across multiple departments to best care for those with hip fractures.
By ensuring multidisciplinary coordination across the healthcare team, more patients are getting operated on within 24 hours, which, research has shown improves patient outcomes. The sooner the operation, the fewer the complications and less pain for patients.
Our patients are also recovering faster, as evidenced by the drop in hospital length of stay.
Banner Baywood looks to continually improve the quality of our programs as part of our commitment to a higher standard of care. Our team of experts receive ongoing training and education, all with the goal of putting our patients first.
Banner Baywood continues to make a difference in people’s lives through excellent orthopedic care.
Dedicated Surgical Unit
We offer specially educated nursing professionals and therapists, nationally certified clinical nurse specialists, and individualized discharge planning/care coordination to make the transition home as easy and comfortable as possible.
While most procedures we perform are complex, nearly two-thirds of our patients are able to leave the hospital and return home immediately following surgery.
Banner Baywood's informative pre- and post-hospitalization joint classes thoroughly educate patients on the treatment and recovery process.
