A healthy lifestyle helps maintain a healthy heart. That is why Banner Boswell Medical Center has an extensive cardiac rehabilitation program to help patients with heart conditions live healthier lives.
Our cardiac rehabilitation specialists provide a comprehensive exercise therapy and educational program. The goal is to improve each patient’s heart performance through exercise, educate how to identify and modify coronary risk factors and encourage lifestyle changes to reduce the risk of future cardiac events.
Three Phases of Cardiac Rehabilitation
Each segment of this three-phase program includes personalized exercise therapy as well as instruction on diet, medications, stress, and physical therapy and heart disease risk factor reduction.
- Phase I – Begins in the hospital with a cardiac care plan to promote recovery, prevent complicatons, and begin risk factor education.
- Phase II – Begins about two to six weeks after leaving the hospital; focuses on medically monitored and supervised exercise therapy sessions meeting three times per week for 4 to 12 weeks. Emphasis also is placed on educating the patient to reduce the risks for coronary heart disease.
- Phase III – Supervised exercise therapy to maintain or increase patients' cardiac conditioning and promote positive lifestyle changes.
