Intensive Care Units
Banner Boswell Medical Center has 70 beds in three separate Intensive Care Units (ICU) that specialize in the care of cardiovascular patients, neurosurgical patients and patients who need critical medical or surgical care.
Our cardiovascular and neurosurgical ICU units are on the ground floor of Banner Boswell, across the hall from surgery allowing for seamless care from the operating room to the critical care units.
The medical intensive care unit (MICU) is located on the north side of the third floor.
All of Banner Boswell's Intensive Care Units Banner iCare™ program, which provides the highest level of care for Intensive Care Unit patients through a partnership between bedside caregivers and remote intensive care specialists.
Banner Boswell's MICU unit 3 North was originally designed by the very nurses who delivered care on the 32-bed unit. The nurses worked closely with the design and construction team to create a unit that incorporated the focus of quality patient care into every aspect of the process.
The most innovative physical features of 3 North are glass-console windows between every two patient rooms where nurses can focus closely on care of their patients.
Other nurse-designed innovations include a combined central-supply area and medication-storage room. Equipment is stored in recessed areas of walls to keep walkways clear. Each room has a private shower and toilet.
These improvements make it easier for nurses to provide care and enhances the patient care experience for critically ill patients and their loved ones.
