The Progressive Care (Telemetry) units at Banner Boswell Medical Center help ease a patient’s transition from Intensive Care or Surgery to recovery.
When patients with neurological conditions are transitioned to a Progressive Care unit, it means their physicians and other caregivers have decided they are progressing well and can move to the next level of care.
Patients require less additional oxygen, are usually eating and can increase their activity levels. Intensive bedside monitoring and one-on-one nursing (provided while in Intensive Care) are no longer required which means the patient is doing well.
Through constant care and communication, each patient will learn about medications, diet, physical activity limitations and instructions to follow at home. In most cases, when patients leave the neurological Progressive Care Unit, they will be ready to return home, be referred to a rehabilitation center or start an outpatient care program.
