Neurosurgical Options
Patients receiving neurological care at Banner Boswell Medical Center can be confident they are getting the most current and specialized treatments available. A multidisciplinary team of experts work together to present each patient with an individualized treatment plan.
Common treatment options available at Banner Boswell:
- Anterior approach: corpectomy, diskectomy (with/without instrumentation)
- Application of halo brace for unstable cervical fractures
- Burr holes for chronic subdural hematoma
- Craniotomy for intracranial hematoma (epidural, subdural, and intracerebral)
- Craniotomy for ruptured intracranial aneurysms
- Deep brain stimulation for movement and affective disorders such as Parkinson’s disease and essential tremor
- Implantation of reservoir (spinal-subarachnoid, ventricular) for chemotherapy, infection, and/or pain control
- Peripheral nerve procedures including biopsy, carpal tunnel decompression and ulnar nerve anterior transposition
- Posterior approach: laminectomy, fusion (with/without instrumentation)
- Shunting (ventriculoperitoneal, ventriculoatrial, spinal-peritoneal, subdural-peritoneal)
- Spinal surgeries (cervical, thoracic, lumbosacral and minimally invasive) for congenital defects, trauma, degenerative spine, tumor, and/or abscess
- Stereotactic (frame and frameless) resection and/or biopsy of brain lesions
- Transphenoidal microsurgical excision of pituitary tumors
- Trigeminal glycerol rhizolysis for trigeminal neuralgia
- Ventriculostomy
