Banner Boswell Medical Center is a certified Joint Commission Primary Stroke Center. This designation recognizes our excellent services which include:

- a specialized stroke unit
- a team of neurologists and specially trained nurses
- services from the onset of stroke through recovery.
Emergency medical personnel notify the Emergency department of a person with stroke symptoms even before they arrive at Banner Boswell. Upon arrival in the Emergency department, the patient is assessed by emergency physicians and a dedicated Stroke Alert nurse to facilitate rapid and seamless care.
We were among the first Arizona hospitals to administer tPA, a blood-clot-busting drug used to treat stroke victims.
For some patients, our extensive rehabilitation programs play a pivotal role in recovery. We offer physical, speech, occupational and recreation therapies under the direction of board-certified physiatrists and specially trained rehabilitation nurses.
Banner Boswell Medical Center is one of only four centers in the Phoenix metro area to offer deep brain stimulation, a surgical therapy used to treat motor symptoms in patients with Parkinson’s disease or essential tremor.
