Each patient at Banner Boswell Medical Center's Wound Center undergoes an extensive evaluation and assessment that provides the team with a complete medical and lifestyle profile.

Specific components of the profile include:

• Medical history review
• Identification of factors contributing to wound development and impairment of healing
• Nutritional assessment
• Sensory evaluation
• Evaluation of footwear or wheelchair cushions/accessories
• Patient education

We offer a variety of treatment options including:

• Compression therapy
• Infection management
• Topical application of specialty dressings
• Wound debridement
• Pain management
• Nutritional counseling
• Hyperbaric oxygen therapy
• Patient and caregiver education

What is a chronic wound?

• A wound that has not improved significantly in one month or healed in two months
• A leg or foot ulcer resulting from poor circulation
• A non-healing incision or injury
• A sore caused by sustained pressure
• Other types of non-healing wounds include abrasions, skin tears, burns, deep traumatic wounds and post-surgical care of grafts or flaps.
