Answer: Generally volunteers work a four-hour shift once a week. Some work more and some less, but we appreciate any time you are able to give.

Question: What are the times and days of the various shifts?

Question: How do I become a volunteer?

Answer: Please call Volunteer Resources and arrange a time to come in and discuss your interests.

Question: May I volunteer on the weekend?

Answer: We have a number of weekend assignments.

Question: Will I get training?

Answer: Yes, volunteers receive "on the job training." We want all volunteers to feel comfortable in their positions and have a training program for each assignment.

Question: What if I am unable to come in on my day?

Answer: If you feel sick, please don't come into the hospital. If you know you will be out of town or have something that makes you unable to fulfill your assignment, we ask that you let us know as soon as possible.

Answer: No, we provide substitutes if you are going to be away from your assignment.

Question: What if I am a winter resident, am I still able to volunteer?

Answer: Most definitely. Winter residents have many opportunities to volunteer.

Question: May I change jobs periodically?

Answer: If you like change, we will work with you to get you reassigned when you are ready for a new challenge.

Question: Can spouses work together?

Answer: Yes. They are often able to work together on the same assignment or work different assignments but at the same time.

Question: Is there a uniform?

Answer: Volunteers working inside the hospitals wear a uniform. Some assignments that are not in the hospitals do not require one. The uniform consists of a logo smock or logo golf shirt with your stone-colored slacks or skirt and white/beige shoes. All volunteers receive one free uniform at the start of their career as a Banner Boswell volunteer.
