Electroconvulsive Therapy Program
The Banner Del E. Webb Medical Center Somatic Therapy department, in partnership with Behavioral Health, offers electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) for patients suffering with severe depression, bipolar disorder, and other mental health diagnoses.
ECT is delivered in a safe, caring environment under general anesthesia. This therapy has proven successful with many patients suffering from severe depression.
Our electroconvulsive therapy is provided Monday, Wednesday and Friday after consultation by psychiatrist.
The ECT therapy program consists of two phases. Each phase includes care delivered by licensed professional staff in a caring and compassionate atmosphere.
- Acute Phase — generally one month with ECT provided three times weekly.
- Maintenance Phase — determined based on individual response to therapy.
