Cardiac Rehabilitation
The Banner Del E. Webb Medical Center Cardiac Rehabilitation department provides a comprehensive exercise therapy and educational program. Our program assists cardiac patients in restoring and maintaining cardiac function, as well as promoting their psychological and social well being.
Banner Del E. Webb’s team of clinical exercise physiologists and cardiac rehab nurses provide a medically supervised program designed to:
- Improve functional capacity
- Alleviate or lessen symptoms present on exertion
- Reduce disability
- Increase well being
Through educational components in the program cardiac patients learn how to identify and modify coronary risk factors and implement lifestyle changes to reduce the risk of future cardiac events.
The Cardiac Rehabilitation Program
Our cardiac rehabilitation program consists of two phases. Each phase includes personalized exercise and physical therapy as well as instruction on diet, medications, stress reduction and how to reduce heart disease risk factors.
- Phase II — Beings about two to six weeks after leaving the hospital; focuses on medically monitored and supervised exercise therapy sessions meeting three times per week for four—twelve weeks. Emphasis is also placed on education the patient to reduce the risks for coronary heart disease.
- Phase III — Supervised exercise therapy to maintain or increase patients’ cardiac conditions and promote positive lifestyle changes.
