Labor, delivery and recovery
Banner Del E. Webb Medical Center has the expertise and experience to care for some of the most complex pregnancies and deliveries.
Labor and Delivery Rooms
Women experiencing labor, first enter a special triage area where their stage of labor is assessed.
Laboring mothers are moved into one of 16 Labor and Delivery Rooms in the Nesting Place or into one of two operating suites available for Cesarean deliveries or other medical emergencies.
We also offer a well-baby nursery and a continuing care nursery for infants who need specialized care.
Banner Del E. Webb uses an intelligent OB information system, which uses electronic medical records to help prevent medical errors and to provides more comprehensive care for mothers and babies.
Following delivery, mothers and babies will be taken together to a private room for "couplet care," with flexible visiting hours so families can share in the happy occasion. At this time, a security monitor will be placed on your baby. These tamper-proof security bands will not be removed until discharge. We also use a state-of-the-art security system with Closed Circuit Television.
Our 19 private suites can accommodate mother, baby and family. Rooms include a couch that folds into a bed for mom's support person. Banner Del E. Webb also provides room service meals for patients.
You will also receive individual instruction from the family-centered care nursing staff, as well as written discharge instructions. Our goal is to teach you the information you need so you're comfortable caring for your newborn.
Family & Friends CPR (FREE for inpatients only)
This free course is offered to our patients who deliver in the Nesting Place and their loved ones, and is available for those who have delivered and are currently a patient in our facility. It will prepare you in providing CPR and choking relief for infant, child, and adult.

Every baby receives a hearing test to ensure the best opportunity for normal development. This is a non-invasive procedure.
Banner Del E. Webb's nurses provide lactation support to our patients. We also have two internationally-certified lactation consultants to provide individual instruction to mothers having difficulty with breast-feeding, as well as provide follow-up consultations as needed.
Open, unrestricted visitation by your spouse, support persons, children, relatives and friends is encouraged. However, visitors who have a cold or have been exposed to the symptoms of communicable diseases (RSV, chicken pox, flu, tuberculosis, measles, mumps, rubella) are cautioned not to visit. Siblings and children younger than 14 years must be accompanied and supervised by an adult.
Taking pictures of the delivery of your baby is allowed with your physician's permission. Pictures of your newborn will be provided.
We generate and file a birth certificate with the state. You can get a copy at the Maricopa County Health Department in about eight weeks after your delivery.
