Banner Desert Medical Center is a 549-bed, nonprofit facility, providing a wide range of inpatient and outpatient services. The hospital is a flagship of Banner Health and is one of the largest and most comprehensive in the state of Arizona.
With its many specialty services, Banner Desert serves as a tertiary referral center for the East Valley of metropolitan Phoenix. Areas of excellence include high risk pregnancy and neonatal care, obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics, cardiology, oncology and emergency medicine. Banner Children’s Hospital at Banner Desert provides general and intensive care, outpatient services, rehabilitation, oncology and a dedicated emergency department just for kids. Adult and pediatric acute care, pulmonary medicine, renal disease, robotic and minimally-invasive surgery, rehabilitation and many more services are available.
Banner Desert offers state-of-the-art technology, including iCare, a telehealth program that provides an extra layer of monitoring for patients in intensive-care units. The hospital also offers a variety of minimally invasive surgical options, including robotic surgery that can help patients have a shorter recovery time.
Unique to Banner Desert is The Oasis Spa, a hospital-based sanctuary offering a team of highly skilled, licensed practitioners who will assist you in reducing stress, renewing energy and restoring a sense of well-being. The spa is a part of the hospital's Integrative Therapy program.
Banner Desert employs more than 3,700 health care professionals and support staff. The facility has a medical staff of more than 1,200 physicians representing 65 specialties.
Banner Desert is currently undergoing a major campus expansion of adult and pediatric services, including construction of a new seven-story pediatric patient tower, which will increase the number of licensed beds for children from 137 to 220. Completion of the project is slated for 2009.
