Banner Desert Medical offers a variety of monthly support groups to help you during your recovery:

NEW MOM SUPPORT GROUP:

Breastfeeding support group - Calling all breastfeeding moms who would like to network with other moms for support and education. Each week a new topic will be discussed. You will learn breastfeeding techniques and helpful hints. The group is led by a registered nurse and internationally board-certified lactation consultant.

Pregnancy and Postpartum Adjustment Support Group - You are not alone. You are not to blame. For moms feeling sad, anxious, overwhelmed or disconnected, our Pregnancy and Postpartum Adjustment Support Group is free and available to you. Babies are welcome.

CARDIAC REHABILITATION:

Cardiac Rehab support group - The group provides an opportunity for patients and families to share experiences, successes and difficulties with each other in a supportive environment. Participants will learn behavior modification practices along with important information on cardiac health.

• Living with Cancer– a general cancer support group for patients, families and close friends to share their experiences.

  • When: Meetings are held the first and third Thursday of every month from 7 - 8:30 p.m.

• Breast Cancer – a support group for women, their families and friends to share experiences surrounding the mental, emotional and physical issues of breast cancer.
  • Cost: Free
  • When: Meetings are held the fourth Tuesday of every month from 7 - 8:30 p.m.

• Metastatic Breast Cancer – a support group for women, their families and friends to share experiences surrounding the mental, emotional and physical issues of metastatic breast cancer.

• Gynecological Cancer – a support group for women diagnosed with gynecological cancer, their families and friends to share experiences.

• Support for people with head and neck cancer – an informational and supportive meeting for newly diagnosed patients, family members and friends.

• Colon Cancer – a support group for people diagnosed with colon cancer and their families.

• Prostate Cancer – a support group for men diagnosed with prostate cancer and their families.

• Desert Climb (for children whose parents have been diagnosed with cancer) – Children’s Lives Include Moments of Bravery – a support group for school-aged children six to 13 years. Meetings use conversation and art to explore children’s feelings about their parents’ diagnosis. Desert CLIMB is a six-week program meeting once a week and is facilitated by a certified counselor and two child life specialists. Call (480) 412-5578 for more information.
