Day of Dance Breaks Records for Heart Health (Feb. 24, 2007) — More than 1,000 East Valley residents danced for a healthy heart as part of Banner Desert Medical Center's Spirit of Women Day of Dance.

Hospital donates clothes, supplies to Afghanistan (Feb. 28, 2007) — Inspired by a photograph of an Afghanistan man holding a child in tattered clothing, Pat Dill, an RN for Banner Desert Medical Center for the past 17 years, decided to begin a clothing drive. 

Banner Desert breaks ground on children’s hospital tower (May 6, 2007) — Donning hard hats and manning bright yellow Tonka Trucks, a pint-sized crew of four to 16-year-olds today broke ground for the new 7-story Banner Children’s Hospital at Banner Desert Medical Center patient tower that will be built on the corner of Dobson Road and Southern Avenue in Mesa.

First set of Quadruplets born at Banner Desert Medical Center (June 6, 2007) — Parents Jayne and Jeremiah Cluff of Gilbert welcomed their four babies—girls Brynlee and Cambria, boys Addison and Weston—June 6 at approximately 4 p.m., marking the first quadruplet delivery for Banner Desert Medical Center.

Gilbert woman recognized as Community Hero winner (June 15, 2007) Napa, CA - In recognition of her outstanding achievements in community service, Mary Anne Asciutto, a tireless trailblazer, an inspiration, a role model, but perhaps most importantly, a woman of “special spirit”, was chosen as the National Winner of the 2007 Spirit in Action Awards Community Hero National Winner.

Banner Desert recognized as “Most Preferred” in East Valley (July 3, 2007) — Phoenix metro consumers have once again selected Banner Desert Medical Center as their most preferred hospital for their own health care, according to the most recent consumer preference and brand awareness survey results.

Banner Desert targets Liver tumors with special procedure (Aug. 2, 2007) — Banner Desert Medical Center performed its first SIR-Spheres procedure August 2, becoming the second Banner Health hospital to offer the highly delicate procedure. The procedure uses tiny radioactive beads to treat inoperable colorectal cancer which has metastasized to the liver.

Medical Imaging Expands area, offerings at Banner Desert (Aug. 7, 2007) — The Medical Imaging department at Banner Desert Medical Center expanded and updated its MRI area,  now conveniently located inside the hospital on the first floor near Radiation Oncology.

Cancer art visits Banner Desert Medical Center (Sept. 14, 2007) — Banner Desert Cancer Center is proud to present the Lilly Oncology on Canvas International Art Exhibition from September 14 to September 24 in the Rosati Education Center at Banner Desert Medical Center.

Partnership with Mesa School District brings teacher to Banner Children’s (Sept. 25, 2007) – School is in session for patients at Banner Children’s Hospital at Banner Desert Medical Center.

Brachytherapy offers unique options for tumor patients (Nov. 11, 2007) — Lung cancer patients have only one place to go in the East Valley — Banner Desert Medical Center — for High Dose Rate Brachytherapy, a unique treatment option that allows for quick shrinkage of a tumor with minimal side effects.

Banner Desert Cancer Center patient gives back (Dec.11, 2007) — With only three months to go before he’s declared a “cancer survivor,” Wylie Tilson has much to be thankful for, and helping others is his way of giving back. Tilson was just 36 years old in March 2006, when he learned he had Stage 4 esophageal cancer and his outlook for survival was grim at best.
