Art Wall provides inspiration and hope

Art Wall at Banner DesertMESA, Ariz. (Mar. 13, 2008) -- Banner Desert Cancer Center knows that a cancer diagnosis can create a drastic change of lifestyle to the patient, as well as their family, friends and caregivers.

That is why Patricia DeBruhl, a counselor at the hospital, has organized multiple Art Day events throughout the past year. These special days allow cancer patients, as well as their families, friends and caregivers, the opportunity to express their feelings about their cancer on canvas.

Each day has garnered more than 20 masterpieces, special art that really expresses the individuality of each cancer diagnosis and the people it affects.

The results of Banner Desert’s Day of Art are now on display in two special “Living Proof” hallways at Banner Desert. One, located on the first floor hallway leading to Radiation Oncology, tells the story of our first Art Day participants. With its success, Banner Desert Cancer Center organized a second Art Day and has hung the inspirational paintings in the hall leading to the 3A Oncology Unit.
