Birthing Services
Every birth is a unique experience, and at Banner Desert, our highly skilled compassionate staff provides comprehensive specialty, family education and support. Our private Labor, Delivery and Recovery rooms have a comfortable, home-like feeling, and allow women to stay in the same room during the birthing experience. Visiting hours are flexible so families can share in the happy occasion.
Many options are available throughout labor and birth, including birthing balls, music, massage and aromatherapy. We also provide couplet care so that mothers and their newborns are cared for together by the same nursing staff for additional bonding. And our Partners in Caring program promotes the role of each patient’s support person in the birthing experience.
Premature and special needs babies can be cared for in our Level 3 Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, which provides neonatologist coverage 24 hours a day to attend deliveries should the need arise.
Banner Desert’s Newborn Hearing Screening Program has been recognized as the most comprehensive program in Arizona. The hospital also has a comprehensive infant security system to help put your mind at ease.
Fetal Assessment Center
Our patient-focused center provides outpatient OB ultrasound and non-stress testing. These diagnostic tests are performed and interpreted by healthcare providers with specialized training in maternal fetal medicine.
