Be a Volunteer at Banner Estrella
Banner Estrella Medical Center is looking for compassionate and caring individuals who would be willing to volunteer four hours each week at the hospital.
Our volunteers come from all walks of life and make significant contributions of time and talent. Each year, volunteers donate nearly 20,000 hours to our medical center and generate funds that benefit Banner Estrella programs and services through the fund-raising efforts of the Gift Shop and other special sale events.
Application Process
To make sure that we have only the best in volunteers -- as we do in our physicians, nurses and staff -- we require all our volunteers to complete a thorough application, interview and background research process. This process, which could take up to three weeks, helps to verify that we will continue to make a difference in people’s lives through excellent patient care.
We ask all our volunteers for a service commitment of a minimum of one shift per week, four hours in length, for six months to one year.
Volunteer opportunities currently available include:
- Reception Services such as greeting patients and visitors at lobby information desks, or greeting and escorting visitors.
- Departmental Support Services such as food services, or assisting in the hospital's Gift Shop.
- Administrative Clerical Support such as answering phones, scheduling, making copies, filing, data entry, and other duties as necessary.
- Patient and Family Services such as visiting patients to ensure patients' needs are being met, writing personal stories for patients and family members, Dog Therapy (must be certified by Therapy Dogs Inc., Delta Society, or Therapy Dogs International), Reiki Therapy (must be certified at Level II or higher).
