Banner Estrella Medical Center is dedicated to providing innovative, compassionate orthopedic services tailored to meet the individual needs of its patients.
The hospital maintains a 24-bed unit for treating an array of orthopedic conditions ranging from sports-related and emergency injuries to arthritic, congenital and degenerative conditions affecting the bones, joints, muscles, ligaments, tendons and cartilage.
Banner Estrella embraces revolutionary technological advancements in orthopedic medicine. In July 2006, the hospital performed the first gender knee replacement surgery in the Phoenix metropolitan area using the Zimmer® Gender Solutions™ Knee, a knee implant not yet available nationwide that is specifically designed for a woman’s shape and size. The procedure was performed as part of a limited test group of 15 physicians across the country.
Further increasing its arsenal of orthopedic technologies, Banner Estrella now provides GPS-enabled, also referred to as computer-assisted, orthopedic surgery. A technologically-advanced method of performing total knee and total hip replacements, the new technology allows for smaller incisions, greater precision, faster recovery, less bleeding and less pain.
Following surgery, Banner Estrella’s private suites ensure a comfortable recovery environment while an on-site rehabilitation team works to return patients to their highest level of functioning as quickly and safely as possible.
