The Banner Estrella Medical Center uses a concept termed as an interventional services unit that integrates multiple services including general surgery and endoscopy; cardiac surgery and cath lab; orthopedic surgery; diagnostic imaging and non-invasive cardiology – all in the same area as their actual surgery and recovery.

Evidence-based research shows the concept to be less stress-inducing for the patient and family members. It also allows the hospital staff to care for patients more quickly and efficiently because patients do not have to be transported to different parts of the hospital for different procedures.
